TAKING INFORMED ACTION

How can I create an annotated bibliography for a paper or project?

OUTLINE

*For more detailed instructions, see the full lesson plan.

For this taking informed action activity, the students will compile the sources they collected to create a class annotated bibliography for a project/paper.

Compile the students’ annotated bibliographies into one document and give them access to that document. Then, give them time to browse the sources and fill out this handout.

Bring the class together for a discussion about the sources they collected. Talk about the prompts on their handout and make changes to the class bibliography according to how the students respond. For example, if the students collectively decide that a source is not relevant to their project, that source can either be deleted from the document or highlighted in gray. Similarly, the students should vote to decide which sources should be considered the “top ten most useful,” and those sources can be highlighted in green.
